Unhappy

...in which I go off on one.
Ok, my long standing belief that musicals are evil and not to be trusted have yet again been proven correct. For a while now, everytime I see the clean, tidy, generic stars of Disney's High School Musical, I die a little inside. I noticed a few days ago, the BBC were showing it, so I Tivo'd it for the lulz.
Turns out, that was the worst thing I could have done. (I bet you're all so shocked)
I hate this bland, "Hey, everything's great, you can succeed at anything, hooray for everything" attitude I keep seeing from places like Disney.
Here's a sample lyric chosen from HSM's soundtrack :
We're all in this together / Once we know / That we are / We're all stars / And we see that
We're all in this together / And it shows / When we stand / Hand in hand / Make our dreams come
Eurgh, I hate even cutting and pasting that.
Hey kids, sometimes you're going to fail, you can't be anything you want to be. Just dreaming it, and realising that you're all individuals and strong and determined and ever so ever so ever so perky will not do.
This head-shrinker crap has got to stop. HSM is so clean and perfect, I can't even look at the posters without feeling rage. And you know something's wrong when you feel like punching a poster. The mousecorp has really done it this time. Everyone in the film ticks a box on a checklist. You just know that somewhere, there's been a meeting and someone has mentioned that it needs more minorities.
I should really stop being annoyed at things that clearly aren't meant for me. But I would hate to think any kid of mine would turn out to be the sort that would watch HSM and enjoy it. Christ, I'd even put up with him being emo if it meant HSM never entered my house.
Anyway, welcome back to my blog, I only have hate left now.
